The Compassionate Friends

The Compassionate Friends is a befriending organisation for parents who have had a child die at any age. We hold a ‘Drop In’ at St John’s Church Hall on the second Saturday of each month – an opportunity for a cup of coffee and a chat with other bereaved parents.

tcflogo_webWe also hold an annual service every January, which we call Celebrating a Life, for bereaved parents, relatives and friends, which is supported by our parish priest and our choir. The service comprises music and readings by bereaved parents. Candles are lit, photographs and flowers are placed on the altar and the names of our beloved children are read out.

Many find this service to be a great comfort to them. After the service there are refreshments in the hall, with time to chat with those similarly bereaved.
